Rick lost his battle in 2010, but the organization has continued in his honor. We now offer scholarships to two college bound seniors who embody Rick's desire to get involved and give back to his community. We also support Sterling's Neighbor to Neighbor fund, which provides financial assistance to those facing difficult financial times.
The town of Sterling banded together to give back and support Rick and his family the same way he had done for the town as a First Responder, Fire Safety Instructor for the school, and a coach for countless teams. Rick was larger than life in so many ways and a man you were proud and lucky to call your friend... and so many of us did!
We invite you to our annual 5K every October in the quaint town of Sterling (home of Mary's Little Lamb) and feel the sense of community that our event has. Our top racers win medals AND Apple Pies, which seem very fitting in early October. We also have a large raffle table with great prizes. We have music during the festivities in Memorial Park, we'll provide you with a snack after the race, and invite you to hang out afterwards and see if you won a raffle item. It is a really special event to honor and remember a special man.
